EP Wealth, Waverly Acquire Half-Billion Dollar RIAs
EP Wealth Adds $660M Bay Area RIA
Torrance, Calif.-based EP Wealth Advisors has added a $660 million registered investment advisor in its home state with the acquisition of Peninsula Wealth.
Peninsula Wealth has been in the Bay Area for 15 years, specializing in serving individuals and families in biotech and technology. CEO Rahul Shah said joining EP Wealth will help its six-member team provide more services.
This is EP Wealth’s third acquisition of the year, adding to its offices in Berkeley and Walnut Creek. The firm manages more than $31 billion in client assets across 48 offices.
Waverly Advisors Acquires NBW Capital
Waverly Advisors, a Birmingham, Ala.-based RIA working with individuals, corporations and institutions, has acquired Boston-based NBW Capital.
NBW will bring over about $500 million in AUM and bolster Waverly’s equity strategy and management, according to the announcement. The acquired RIA was founded in 1991 by Chris Blakely, who will now be partner, regional director of Boston and portfolio manager at Waverly.
The deal is Waverly’s 24th since a 2021 investment from Wealth Partners Capital Group and HGGC’s Aspire Holdings platform.
Rick Adler of Red Arrow Capital was NBW’s advisor on the deal.
Mission Wealth Buys Brown Wealth Management
Mission Wealth Management, an RIA based in Santa Barbara, Calif., announced its second deal of the year with Brown Wealth Management, an RIA in Eden Prairie, Minn.
Brown is led by founder Timothy Brown, who will join Mission Wealth as its 52nd equity partner. Advisor Polly Hamm and wealth advisor associate Emma Walley, both of whom will also be making the move, are other members of his firm, which oversees $204 million in client assets.
Mission Wealth has more than $10.7 billion in AUM.
Cary Street Partners Expands with Keene & Dorchak
Cary Street Partners, an RIA based in Richmond, Va., has acquired Keene & Dorchak, a firm with more than $200 million in assets, according to its most recent Form ADV, based in Fort Worth, Texas.
Keene & Dorchak, which John Keene founded, has taken the Cary Street brand effective immediately, establishing the firm’s first Fort Worth location. This adds to Cary Street’s overall presence in the state, with sister offices in Austin and San Antonio.
According to its most recent Form ADV, Cary Street had about $8.26 billion in client assets.
$400M Advisor Shifts to Socium Advisors
Socium Advisors, a private client group of Northwestern Mutual with $2.2 billion in AUM, has added John Calvert as a partner and wealth management advisor.
St. Louis-based Socium Advisors announced that Calvert will be based in the Los Angeles office. He will oversee about $400 million in AUM and bring his specializations in estate and legacy planning and developing exit strategies for business owners.
Calvert had been at Milwaukee-based Northwestern Mutual shortly after graduating from Boston College for a career of over 30 years.
